Ski Touring Introduction

← Ski Touring

Your first step beyond the resort — skinning, transitions and avalanche basics. Earn your turns.

If you already enjoy skiing on-piste, ski touring is your next step to a world of adventure beyond the resorts — the perfect way to explore untouched terrain, climb to stunning alpine vistas and truly earn your turns. You may not get as many runs as a resort day, but you will experience far more of the mountains, with fewer people around.

We tailor the tour to you, covering 400 to 1,000m of ascent in a day. On-piste ability is needed; off-piste experience is useful but not essential. It is good to start with a day or two, in central Switzerland or the Valais.

What you'll learn

  • Introduction to ski-touring gear
  • Skinning technique and kick turns
  • Transitions from uphill to downhill
  • Avalanche-safety basics — transceiver, probe and shovel
